Wilderness First Aid GRANTS
Wilderness First Aid training is one of the most practical things an outdoor enthusiast can do to keep themselve and their team safe in the backcountry. When you're days away from a hospital, knowing how to assess and respond to a medical emergency can be the only thing standing between a sever injury or something much worse.
Trek for Trevor funds WFA certification grants for outdoor groups whose leaders are already committed to doing things the right way. We look for organizations that have culture of safety built into how they operate, and we help make sure their adventurers have the credentials to back it up.

Stories from the Field
“Since obtaining my WFA certification, I feel a higher degree of confidence when recreating outdoors. I enjoy knowing that I have the knowledge to better assist someone who is hurt or experiencing a medical emergency.”
“Promoting a culture of safety and responsibility creates a domino effect that may very well save someone's life one day.”
- Brigette Bell: OSU Mountaineer
“Because of our WFA training grant from Trek for Trevor, we were able to more accurately identify and assess the risk of pneumonia from one of the hikers on our trip. As a result, were were able to determine our best course of action to her and everyone else on the trip safe.”
- Ethan Crane & Joe Stroup: OSU Mountaineers
“I credit my WFA training with better decision-making. On our trip to the White Mountains, I determined being on an exposed ridge line in severe weather was a risk we couldn’t take. As a result, we dropped below tree line to keep the group safe.”
“I have a stronger appreciation for respecting nature and the dangers it can pose.”
- Nate Ruehr: OSU Mountaineer
